TECHNICAL FEATURES |
1 - TRUSS
The truss is made of steel profiles welded
together as per the manufacturer’s design
and guarantees excellent resistance to
flexure and torsion stress.
The deflection, calculated under a load
of 5000 N/m2, is less than 1/750 of the
distance between the supports.
Oil-tight welded steel sheet (thickness 4 mm)
is acting as full-lenght oil collector tray
and soffit.
The passenger conveyor external sides are
not cladded.
The truss rests on supports at either end
which are provided by the customer in
accordance with Tecno instructions.
Elastic supports are provided at the truss
ends to avoid direct transmission of vibration.
2 - DRIVE UNIT
The drive unit is located at the upper end of the
passenger conveyor.
The drive is produced by a special type passenger
conveyor squirrel cage type A.C. motor
switched on Star-Delta. The motor is protected
by all-round protection.
Motor protection rating : IP 55
Insulation class : F
The motor is attached to a worm type reduction
gear - a helical gear. The drive is transmitted from
the motor/reduction gear unit to the pallet drive unit
through a multiple-link roller chain. The breakage load
for this easily satisfies the required safety factors.
The passenger conveyor has a fail-safe electrommechanical
brake for smooth stopping action.
In case of vertical rises exceeding 6 m, further
to the service brake, on emergency brake is
supplied.
3 - PALLETS
The pallets are of distortion resistant design,
made of high-tensile, die-cast aluminium
(width 1000 or 800 mm).
The pallets are interchangeable and are fixed
to the chain axles in such a way that they
can be removed quickly and easily without
having to dismount the chains and skirting.
4 - PALLET CHAINS
The pallet chains of the precision roller type
are made of hardened and tempered material,
with hardened and ground pins .
Each passenger conveyor has two chains, one
on either side of the pallet, driven by a couple
of wheels on the drive shaft in the top section
of the escalator. These are balanced by a
second pair of wheels on the transmission shaft
in the bottom section of the passenger conveyor
(the pallet return idler sprockets).
5 - CHAIN TENSIONING DEVICE
The chain tensioning device is easily accessible
at the lower end of the passenger conveyor
after lifting off the floor covering.
The tensioning shaft rests on both sides and
runs along special guides fixed directly to the
frame of the passenger conveyor.
Two loaded springs, that can be adjusted by
means of tie-rods, guarantee the constant
tension of the pallet chains.
Electrical contacts check the excessive
extension or breaking of the pallet chains.
6 - COMBS AND COMB-PLATES
The combs are made of special cast aluminium and
are standard elements permanently fixed to the
combplates.The combs enter the grooves in the pallet
tread plates and guarantee a perfect fit.
The combplates consist of a metal plate covered in
non-slip stainless steel with safety switches that
interrupt the movement of the passenger conveyor in
the event that any foreign bodies get caught between
the pallet and the combplates.

7 - HANDRAIL
The handrails are made of black rubber moulding
with internal canvas and rayon layers for extra
strength. Each handrail is driven by a pulley
timed with the speed of the pallets.
The drive pulleys are housed in the top section
of the passenger conveyor and are directly driven
by the pallet chain drive unit via a roller chain.
The guides running along the entire length of
the passenger conveyor are formed from a
special steel profile.
The handrail tensioning device is also found in
the top section of the passenger conveyor near
the drive pulleys.
The points at which the handrail enters and
leaves the balustrade are carefully protected.
Electrical contacts stop the passenger conveyor
immediately any foreign body is detected.
8 - BALUSTRADES
The balustrades are made from panels of
safety glass (10 mm thick) laid vertically
and without the need for supports.
The joints between the panels are vertically
to the handrail.The panels are positioned
flush with each other, thus doing away with
the need for masking.
The inner and the outer decking balustrades
(near the skirting) are made in aluminium
natural anodized.
9 - SKIRTING
The skirting are rigid and made from
dent-resistant stainless steel sheets with a
smooth surface facing the pallet.
10 - OUTER CLADDING
The two sides and the soffit of the passenger
conveyor may, at extra cost, be encased in
pressed steel panels, treated with a primer.
The panels may alternatively be obtained
from stainless steel or other materials chosen
by the customer.
11 - ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT
The control cabinet is installed in the top end
of the passenger conveyor and is made of
steel plate, protection rating IP 54. It can be
rolled out from its seat for both front and back
easy inspection. In addition to the main switch
with its magnetothermal protection, the control
cabinet also contains the following equipments:
- up/down travelling remote switches;
- a maintenance operation relay;
- a brake relay;
- a transformer;
- safety switches;
- full motor speed control and protection
against accidental movement inversion
of the passenger conveyor.
The maintenance area at either end of the
passenger conveyor is equipped with:
- a socket outlet for connecting a
hand-held lamp;
- a socket outlet for connecting the maintenance
push-button panel (when this is inserted,
all other controls are excluded);
- a control circuit switch.
The safety switches are in series and normally
open.
Upside and downside skirting (on left hand
side) there are the key switch up/down and the
emergency stop buttons.
12 - SAFETY DEVICES
The passenger conveyor are fitted with the
following safety devices:
a) Emergency stop buttons - Push buttons
provided in the up -side and the down-side
skirting (left hand side);
b) Main switch - With thermal release at the
control panel;
c) Control circuit breakers - Provided in the
upper drive station and by the motor;
d) Speed monitor - Electronic speed and pallet
band monitoring by initiators provided at the
motor;
e) Motor temperature monitor - Temperature
sensing device in the motor winding;
f) Pallet sag and lifting monitor - Feelers in
the pallet band at top and bottom, stop the
passenger conveyor in case of deviations
more than 4 mm;
g) Pallet inlet monitor - Horizontal and vertical
movement of comb carrier;
h) Pallet chain tension monitor - Switch with
mechanical lock for chain tension and chain
breakage monitoring;
i) Maintenance drive socket - Provided in the
bottom return station and at the control cabi
net;
l) Handrail inlet control switch to protect
people
m)Pallets and comb contact control switch
